We see the precedent for community found within the formation of the New Testament Church. In the early church, people met in both large gatherings and small groups on a consistent basis. Acts 2 describes the miraculous birth of the church when 3,000 people were added to the Family of God during a large gathering.
The Scripture goes on to explain how these people continued to build community. Regularly, they broke bread in their homes, worshiped together, and enjoyed the favor of all the people. We endeavor to keep this model–with both gatherings and groups.
